Songkran Day was first originated from India in the 5th century A.D.
Later on, this festival was introduced to Burma, Thailand, and Xishuangbanna in Yunnan, the province of China. It was introduced to the Dai area of Yunnan Province in China along with Buddhism at the end of the 12th century to the beginning of the 13th. With the deep influence of Buddhism, Songkran Festival has become a national custom and has been passed down to many nations.
Every year, mid-April is the happiest time for all Cambodians. People return to their hometowns for reunion, go to temples to pray and bring the offerings to the monks, and also express their blessings with their families-This is the Songkran Day.
